We Want to Remove the Silos

Hospitals thrive on specialization. Unfortunately, specialization can sometimes lead to roadblocks for our patients and our many specialists. You know that doctors specialize. So do nurses, many of whom have passed national certification exams related to their particular area of expertise. Pharmacy, lab, imaging and rehabilitation services staff members went to school to become licensed, registered or certified specialists in their respective professions. Environmental Services staff members, key players in infection control efforts, specialize as do patient registrars, billing personnel and medical records employees, all charged with performing essential and complex tasks laden with rules, regulations and red tape.
